Kathy Morello, physics teacher and member of the technology team at St. Joseph's Academy, has been an avid DyKnow user since the school adopted the software in early 2007. She quickly adapted to a DyKnow classroom and has seen significant impacts on teaching and learning. The interactivity she creates through DyKnow makes the learning process more memorable and engaging.
When she had the opportunity to beta-test DyKnow 5.1, Morello jumped right into using many of the new features. She now skillfully uses these new features to help students study and learn more effectively. For example, Morello uses the Audio Recorder to capture a lecture as it synchs with content in a DyKnow notebook.
"My students have come to expect that they can use the notebook with audio to help them study," said Morello. "This is particularly useful for those students who find the course difficult."
Likewise, Morello uses DyKnow's File Transfer to send homework or pop quizzes. She then has students complete the homework or quiz and return it digitally.
"DyKnow is the easiest way for me to grade and return homework or pop quizzes without having to click hundreds of buttons," said Morello.
Overall, Morello's classroom exemplifies interactivity and collaboration. She says the combination of Tablet PCs and DyKnow software has really made a difference in her physics classroom, helping students with all ability levels understand better and be more successful.
