Educator of the Month

Linda Sarnecki
Servite High School

Linda Sarnecki, math instructor at Servite High School in Anaheim, California, leverages technology to enhance teaching and learning. Sarnecki uses DyKnow Vision to create an active learning environment where students are immersed in 21st Century learning tools. Her quick adoption of classroom technology is what earned Sarnecki a place as DyKnow's August Educator of the Month.

It is not uncommon to find students in Sarnecki's classroom engaged in friendly competitions using DyKnow's Work Groups and Panel Submission features. Sarnecki places students into teams and authorizes a shared workspace. Then using their Tablet PCs, the students dynamically solve problems together and quickly submit their panels for review. The team who correctly finishes the problem first is rewarded with extra credit points.

Likewise, Sarnecki utilizes DyKnow's polling feature to engage students in real time assessment. The optional anonymity of DyKnow's polling feature empowers students who may be afraid to publicly participate. Knowing where all students stand on a particular aspect of the curriculum allows Sarnecki to adjust instruction as appropriate and quickly respond to at-risk students.

Whether students are participating in games or sharing control of the teachers work space to demonstrate a solution, Sarnecki's classroom embodies the interactivity of a 21st Century classroom.
